ASICS® GT - 2170 - Men's
The ASICS® GT-2170™ running shoe features technical improvements that stay true to its roots while pushing forward with improved fit, ride and weight reduction. Open mesh upper offers breathability to help keep the foot cool. Personal Heel Fit (PHF) is a two layer memory foam lining in the heel collar which creates a personalized fit. ComforDry® sockliner is made from an antibacterial material that not only reduces odor and moisture but also provides additional cushioning. Heel and forefoot GEL® Cushioning Systems take the shock during impact and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot moves through the gait cycle. Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.®) employs linked componentry that enhances the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off. Solyte® midsole features enhanced cushioning and durability. DuoMax® support system is positioned to enhance support and stability. Space Trusstic System® creates a pocket between the Trusstic System® device and the midsole, allowing for controlled midsole deformation and more efficient foot function. Guidance Line is a vertical flex groove component of I.G.S.® and is primarily articulated in the forefoot to improve gait efficiency. ASICS High Abrasion Rubber® (AHAR) is located in the heel and is a carbon rubber that offers exceptional durability. I've run with Nike shoes, and I've run with Reebok shoes, and I have since fallen in love with Asics. Even after 600 miles and a pair of new laces, these shoes remain completely in tact. Not quite as good as the super-expensive Cumulus and other Asics premium level shoes, but the GT-2170 is far and away a higher level of running shoe than almost anything else for the money. If you are a runner, especially a stockier runner (like me) who might have joint problems (also like me) or are getting up in age (is 29 old?), Asics help the miles fly by, and actually make running enjoyable.

Cons: shoes outlast the shoelaces

I have always loved asics shoes since I started running in 1988. Over the last several years I have tried buying less expensive asics shoes, as I don't run as many miles a week as I used to. I began to have some forefoot pain recently and decided to go back to a shoe with gel in the forefoot as well as the heel like I used to run in. What a difference! The forefoot pain is going away and the shoes feel great! Highly recommended!

These shoes give me everything I want: gel cushioning in the front and back as well as good arch support. I exercise regularly and I'm on my feet a lot in general. These are perfect for every day shoes and workouts. And they're much less expensive than other models.Over the past 5 years I've continued to use this model as the number rises 2140, 2150, etc. I highly recommend them.

I like the way the shoes fit, they seem lighter than the 2160's they replaced and were comfortable. I went out and ran 2.5 miles the day I got them, no problems with the shoes. I say a con is the arch support but I have super high arches and use orthotic inserts anyway

Asics are the most comfortable on my feet. And the construction just gets better and better. And with Eastbay.com "Endless Aisles" I know the cances of having my size are in my favor. Plus, they never close...

The GT 2170 is a great shoe. It states it is a stability shoe, but also has a cushioned feel. That makes a great combo in my opinion.

I own 6 pairs of other acisc but this.pair had issues . the right foot bed had some odd lump under the sole that made my feet hurt instantly . they were promptly returned . I am kinda annoyed that I will most likely.be charged return shipping on defective shoes . other eastbay orders have been flawless but I guess no one is perfect

I like the 2170s. Still want the Kayanos, but the 2170s are a great substitue.

This is my son's second pair. He liked them so much that when his first pair became worn he only wanted this shoe. He likes them because they have good cusion and with being a sprinter it is needed. He is able to put them on right out of the box and they don't need extra time to break them in.

I have worn Asics 2100 series for 10 years.. ordered this pair, put them on ran 1/2 mile and could tell something was wrong. no cushion, smacked ground, shoe felt flat.. have never had this happen before in this shoe.. good shoe, but this pair was messed up, may have been defective.. eastbay took back, waiting for credit. thanks

I've been running 3 - 4 pairs a year of the the GT 21XX shoe for 7 - 8 years now. I'm under the impression the 2170 has been superceded by the new 2000 series, but as long as they are available at a significant discount, I plan to keep using them. They fit well, hold up well and just haven't had a minutes problem with them.
